Denman Island Baroque Music Workshop & Festival
Workshop & Festival
May 5-13, 2018
This is an 8 day festival of baroque music featuring a workshop for talented amateur singers and instrumentalists to be tutored by acclaimed specialists in works by Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) including L'Orfeo (1607), the earliest opera regularly performed today. At the end of the week there will be a concert performance by participants.
The Festival will also feature a performance of baroque dance by the Historical Performance Ensemble, a community concert, a concert by the workshop instructors, lectures related to the music, and an exhibition. The event is sponsored by Denman Works! (www.denmanworks.com www.visitdenmanisland.ca).
THERE ARE STILL A FEW WORKSHOP SPOTS AVAILABLE, FOR BOTH SINGERS AND INSTRUMENTALISTS. WE ARE PARTICULARLY KEEN TO FIND A TENOR FOR CHORUS AND SOLO ROLES (NOT ORFEO). PLEASE SEE THE APPLICATION FORM LINKED TO THIS SITE (SEE TOP MENU) OR WRITE As SOON AS POSSIBLE TO firstname.lastname@example.org FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
